This new MBGN looks Ghanaian. I cannot believe they chose such an unattractive girl to go represent Nigeria. The only thing that could explain this terrible mistake is what I heard. The thing that I heard is that the competition tries to go beyond physical beauty in the choice it makes. For example, talent, intelligence and the way in which contestants respond to a prearranged interview all go towards scores. Anyway, if that is the case then Silverbird should ditch the format quickly and select girls on looks alone if they hope to give us another miss world winner.

wat r u xpecting, OYIBO or wat........she has typical nigerian looks, dats how people also critisized Agbani, dat she was ugly, until she won miss world. i think dis is d first partial free MBGN i have seen.... God guide her...

Not Oyibo but Nigerian look such as you would see if you type Nigerian Models on Google. The picture above looks Ghanaian, complete with bug-eye and tiny pupils. I have not seen Nigerian girls who look that way although she is tall as Nigerian girls can be.

she is my best friend. she is elegant and beautiful. she is graceful.I am not suprised she won cos she is confident. She is one lady with a healthy self esteem.Though needs alittle touch of class, I bet you that in a matter of weeks she will wear that impressive look. Once again nigeria has done a partial free contest.God bless MGBN.God bless Nigeria.

2 me dis new queen no fine o, generaly the whole contestants were looking too old. but atleast the judges dis time were very objective and blunt, dis na the first black queen after 3 consequitive oyibos. i wondered weda na only yello girls fine for nija. i pray dis one achieves sometin at missworld o if not d crown an award will do but i PRAY she wins at least u dont have 2 b like agbani to win missworld. best of luck to the new mgbn queen.

Bassi
That's a racist comment to say. So lightskin Nigerians can not represent Nigerians anymore, only Dark ones should abi?
The 3 consequitive oyibos, which kind insult be that?
Check Nigerian past winners and you'll see that half of the winners are darkskin, so because they choose lightskin girls for 2, NOT 3 years in a roll, it's wahala? Abeg commot for road. Adaeze and munachi are Nigerian just like Glory, so they have every right to represent Nigeria, even though they were lightskin.
Leave your comment about Glory, but do not bring your racist ideas into it. Oyinbo my yansh. Glory isn't the first black queen. ALl Nigerian winners were black queens. You don't have to be darkskin to be a black queen. By the way, Lightksin isn't oyinbo but just lighskin.

Glory is not all beauty alone but has the brains to match. I think it's rather shallow and regressive to suggest that Silverbird base their decisions on looks alone. Instead of criticizing the judges decision now, the best any of us should do is support her and give good criticism that will help her bring home the title of Miss World. Good job Glory!

I am so disappointed by comments made about this girl- as far as i can see, she is tall, black and beautiful. We nigerians do not know how to appreciate beauty- beauty is not physical but also mental thing- it is about carriage, confidence and above all, personality- all the qualities that Glory has. my grandmother used to say that in her days, beauty was not about how you look but about carriage. Remember how people said Agbani was not a beauty, she was too thin, etc, yet she went on to become Nigeria's first Miss Universe semi-finalist and Miss World. People say Anita Uwagbale, MBGN 2004 was no beauty, yet she was a Miss World semi-finalist. Same comments were made about MBGN 2008 winner yet she nearly became a Miss World semi-finalist.

She aint up to Nigerian standard. Seems even the organisers don’t have confidence in her or there'd be more pictures of her. I’ve googled and googled until I can google no more and yet can’t find photos. It’s as if they’re not confident enough to make her pictures public.

well, i think it is time we Nigerians learn to appreciate our beauties- to me, Glory Chukwu is beautiful and elegant and the MBGN organisers know what they are doing- afterall, this pageant has produced three Miss World semi-finalists, including one Miss World crown and one Miss Universe semi-finalist. Ada Igwe came very close to becoming a Miss World semi-finalist last year even though the general consensus among Nigerians was that she was no beauty- well, Miss World is not just about beauty but also about brains- remember the motto: Beauty with a Purpose! If you see Nigeria's Miss Earth winners over the past 3 years, you will agree with me that they are not generally considered to be beauties in the Nigerian context but Nigeria has produced 3 semi-finalists in the last 3 years in Miss Earth, the world 3rd largest pageant. Also Ghanian women are very beautiful, poised and confident, qualities you will not always find in Nigerian girls!

Alhaji Toto/Aristo or whatver u call urself, life is not all about kpanching as u mentioned. You are obviously a silly shallow minded prick!Glory is an intelligent, tall and good looking girl as is required in an international beauty pagaent.Of course you wouldnt know anything about that.Silly fool that you are.God Bless Nigeria and silverbird for making sure the best girl won!

I am speaking to the jobless anonymous that has googled and googled and still cannot find pictures of the current MBGN 2009.Her picture is on the front page of True Love magazine and even Saturday Sun newspaper. If Silverbird had no confidence in Glory, they would not choose her to represent Nigeria at the prestigious Miss World contest.May God give all the haters and jobless googlers the grace to accept thAt Glory is the 2009 beauty queen in jesus name.AMEN!

Excuse me Jess,So in ur mind,Miss world winners are selected based on beauty alone. You must be living under a rock to say such a thing.I think Glory is not just attractive but smart which is a good combination. The only terrible mistake is the fact that an unexposed, illiterate like you was given the opportunity of using a computer.

how many miss world or universe have u seen that is not beautiful, apart from agbani... am sure there most be a gul among the girls that is pretty and can also represent... the thing is that is nigerian way of doing thing. games

The issue should not be attacking these girls who are crowned beacuse in a kingdom of blind men a one eyed man is king. The blame should go to silverbird who have lost sight of their goal because they are now into property they have forgotten how to raise divas to represent Nigeria in international competitions. How many time has the government attempted to help in the reigns of these so called crowned queens. you all sit there and judge from the comfort of your homes and you really dont know what goes on behind closed doors. the days where the girls are slept with does not exist anymore they are simply not taken care of they spend money and never get anything. Has it crossed the mind of anyone that silverbird has one of the foremost tv and radio stations and yet their queens are the most unpopular girls in the country? its cos they tie down the lives of people for one year give them a status to maintain and they dont care how they do that no jobs not even stuff to help their future thats why they run after peoples husbands to keep up the status silverbird should stop fooling themselves and sell the franchise to some one who is serious i know these things because i am in the system. STOP JUDGING IF YOU DONT KNOW ITS BETTER TO GO YAR ADUA( SILENT).
