Miss Universe 2009, the 58th Miss Universe beauty pageant, will be held at the Atlantis Paradise Island, in Nassau, Bahamas on August 23, 2009. Dayana Mendoza, from Venezuela, winner of Miss Universe 2008, will crown her successor in the event.
Cristina Heslenfeld
AGE: 23 | HEIGHT: 5'7" | HOMETOWN: PRINCE GEORGE, BC
After completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Northern British Columbia, Cristina initiated her career at Prince George Regional Hospital as a peri-operative registered nurse and plans to begin a Masters of Science in Nursing to progress her career goals.
Cristina’s impressive volunteer experience includes a surgical mission to the Philippines where she assisted in life-changing operations for citizens of this third world country. Cristina has also contributed a large amount of her time launching an organization called the Community Health Initiative by Northern University and College Students (CHINUCS), a group of health care students (nursing, medicine, social work, dental assisting) working together to help address the health and social needs of the marginalized population of the community.
Cristina’s interests include dance, running, English riding, and more recently, snowboarding. She spends her free time reading and enjoys a variety of musical artists from Tchaikovsky to Jay-Z.
