Road to Miss Teen Canada 2013
ALLISTON - Seventeen-year-old Alliston resident Kayla Karrandjas competed this past weekend in the Miss Teen Canada Provincial competition in Toronto.
Karrandjas placed in the top 18, earning the title of Miss Teen Simcoe County, and will be competing in this summer’s Miss Teen Canada pageant.
In total, 47 delegates competed in the Miss Teen Canada Provincial pageant and each girl participated in a swimwear, interview and evening gown portion of the event. Competitors had their hair and make-up done by professional artists and had one day to learn a dance routine to open the pageant on Sunday evening.
Throughout Sunday’s event the girls earned points for overall presentation, behaviour and photogenic appeal.
The provincial competition was the first pageant Karrandjas has been a part of. She’ll take that experience with her as she competes along side more than100 delegates from across the country for Miss Teen Canada.
“The whole experience was so much fun, I met a lot of people and learned a lot as well.” said Karrandjas.
The winner of Miss Teen Canada will receive a $30,000 prize and be given the opportunity to take part in an overseas volunteer mission.
Karrandjas said if she were to win any money throughout the competition it would be put toward her post-secondary education. She also has dreams of travelling to help people in other countries and would love if the pageant could give her the opportunity.
Karrandjas is looking for sponsors to raise money for the entrance fee for the Miss Teen Canada pageant and for the various charities she will be supporting as apart of the competition.
